Na semana passada, a conceituada revista Rolling Stone lançou mais uma de suas famosas listas, desta vez dedicada aos que tocam aquele que é o instrumento mais ligado ao rock and roll e seus gêneros derivados: a guitarra.
A revista elegeu os "100 melhores guitarristas" de todos os tempos e a relação criou uma bela discussão aqui na cozinha, principalmente porque a publicação não divulgou quais os critérios empregados.
Depois de muitas conjecturas, concluímos que a eleição baseou-se, principalmente, na popularidade do instrumentista e/ou de sua banda. Isso explicaria o fato de Kurt Cobain (Nirvana, na 12ª posição), Johnny Ramone (Ramones, 16ª) e Jack White (White Stripes, 17ª) ocuparem posições superiores às de guitarristas de peso como Ritchie Blackmore (ex-Deep Purple, atual Blackmore’s Night, 55ª) Eddie Van Halen (Van Halen, 70ª) e Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath, 86ª). Também explicaria, em parte, a ausência de guitarristas consagrados, como Steve Vai, Joe Satriani e John Petrucci (Dream Theater), dentre outros.
